Strength Through His Promises

Matthew 15:24-28 (AMP)
²⁴He answered, “I was commissioned by God and sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.” ²⁵But she came and began to kneel down before Him, saying, “Lord, help me!” ²⁶And He replied, “It is not good (appropriate, fair) to take the children’s bread and throw it to the pet dogs.” ²⁷She said, “Yes, Lord; but even the pet dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their [young] masters’ table.” ²⁸Then Jesus answered her, “Woman, your faith [your personal trust and confidence in My power] is great; it will be done for you as you wish.” And her daughter was healed from that moment.

God is good even when we are not. God is a God of healing and restoration even when our faith is weak and we genuinely need help.

Discussion Point #1: Can you think of a time when your faith was lacking, but God was still good and faithful? How did He come through?

Discussion Point #2: What are some healing promises in Scripture that we can stand on when we are fighting something? What Scriptures can we turn to when we are dealing with fear concerning our own health or the health of someone we love?

Isaiah 41:10 (KJV)
¹⁰Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

Jeremiah 17:14 (KJV)
¹⁴Heal me, O LORD, and I shall be healed; save me, and I shall be saved: for thou art my praise.

Jeremiah 30:17 (KJV)
¹⁷For I will restore health unto thee, and I will heal thee of thy wounds, saith the LORD

Our God is a God of truth. Given that truth, we know that what He has spoken in the Bible is true. His words cannot return void. They must produce fruit.

Discussion Point #3: Since that is true, what does that mean for us and our health?

Matthew 8:2-3 (KJV)
²And, behold, there came a leper and worshipped him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean. ³And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.

Jesus said “I will.” Not “I might.” Not “Let me think about it.” He said, “I will; be thou clean.”

Immediately, the man was healed of leprosy.

Faith is now! It begins where the will of God is known. We know that God wants us to be whole. Let faith begin in Jesus’ name!
