The devil doesn’t fight people who are going in the wrong direction.
Provision in the Journey…
Discussion Point #1:
How has your life changed since choosing to follow Christ?
The devil doesn’t bother with people who are already aligned with the world—he doesn’t want them to change. But when God begins a work in us, that’s when the pressure comes—because transformation is taking place.
Matthew 7:13–14 [AMP] 13Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad and easy to travel is the path that leads the way to destruction and eternal loss, and there are many who enter through it. 14But small is the gate and narrow and difficult to travel is the path that leads the way to [everlasting] life, and there are few who find it. [Deut 30:19; Jer 21:8]
The road is narrow, which means it’s harder to navigate; if it were easy, everyone would take it. Becoming a Christian—truly following Christ—means surrendering control of our lives. It takes a quality decision to ask God to lead us.
Discussion Point #2:
If we have to make a quality decision to let God lead our life, who (or what) was leading us before?
Matthew 6:24 [AMP] 24No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon [money, possessions, fame, status, or whatever is valued more than the Lord].
John 12:31 [AMP] 31Now judgment is upon this world [the sentence is being passed]. Now the ruler of this world (Satan) will be cast out.
2 Corinthians 4:4 [AMP] 4Among them the god of this world [Satan] has blinded the minds of the unbelieving to prevent them from seeing the illuminating light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.
According to these scriptures, if God is not the one leading our life, we’ve unknowingly given that authority over to the ruler of this world—Satan. There is no middle ground. But the good news is, we can choose to make a change.
Discussion Point #3:
What changes when we submit to God’s authority instead of following the world?
Philippians 4:6–7 [AMP] 6Do not be anxious or worried about anything, but in everything [every circumstance and situation] by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, continue to make your [specific] requests known to God. 7And the peace of God [that peace which reassures the heart, that peace] which transcends all understanding, [that peace which] stands guard over your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus [is yours]. [John 14:27]
When we submit to God and His authority—even when it’s uncomfortable for our flesh, which doesn’t like being told what to do—something shifts. The pressure may still come, but there’s comfort in that pressure because the decision to follow God has already been made. We no longer have to rely on our own understanding. Instead, we can have peace, knowing that God will take care of us.
This week, instead of a challenge, we invite you to watch a short video that powerfully reminds us how sometimes the devil allows life to feel comfortable and easy—because it keeps people from turning to God.
It echoes our discussion about how pressure often comes only when God is working to change us. Take a moment to watch, reflect, and consider where you might be tempted to rely on comfort instead of God’s guidance. Be blessed!
